Workshops will be held all day on Saturday and Sunday, April 20-21, with fire and a performance on Saturday night. We hope to have crash space available for Friday night as well for those of you coming from further away.
Both days of the convention will be in Walker Field House at Vassar College, in Poughkeepsie NY (around 1.5 hours north of NYC). Click here for our useful map of how to find the Field House once you reach Vassar campus. Vassar’s address is:
124 Raymond Ave
Registration and Housing
Registration is mandatory for the event - fill out the form here! If you are hoping to stay on campus- EVEN if you have already made arrangements to do so- you must fill out the housing application here. This includes instructors and vendors! (This is so we can give Vassar an official list of everyone who is staying on campus.) While we can't guarantee housing for everyone who applies, we have high hopes of being able to fit everyone!
Some parking will be available at Walker Field House, and overflow will be in yet-to-be-determined locations! Check back closer to the date!
Because this event is free we will not be providing food, however there are a number of tasty options within easy walking distance! Raymond Ave in particular has quite a few easy-to-find restaurants. We will have scheduled lunch and dinner breaks... and we have a feeling that if you befriend a passing Barefoot Monkey there’s a high chance they’ll be delighted to swipe you into the campus dining hall for free.
This event is totally free! However, you will want to bring some money for the following awesome things:
- Super cool raffle tickets (cash!)
- Super cool vendor items (cash!)
- Super cool Barefoot Monkeys t-shirts and juggling balls
- Donating to your lovely and far-traveling teachers
- Giving to your favorite convention website designer ;)
There will be a Saturday night performance, with an open application to all convention-goers! It will be indoors, so no fire, with a yet-to-be-determined time that will come out with the full schedule.
We will have two full days of workshops, on Saturday and Sunday, also with an open application to teach! Closer to the date (as well as during the convention) there will also be a place to suggest affinity groups.
There WILL be fire Saturday night, but if you want to spin, you will have to attend a mandatory safety training Saturday afternoon as well as sign a liability waiver. This is the college’s requirement, not ours, so no matter how experienced you are, you still have to attend! (It’s a pain, we know, we go through the same thing eeevery year... but it’s worth it!) We’ll be shouting reminders about this on Saturday, but just keep in mind that it’s very important if you want to spin. Fire will be at a yet-to-be-decided time on Saturday evening right outside Walker Field House, complete with loud music!
There will be vendors at the convention! If we haven’t gotten in touch with you yet and you have something you'd like to sell, get in touch to become an official vendor! For the rest of you, don’t forget to bring $$ for all those awesome props...
This convention IS a yearly occurance- if you'd like to stay updated for news about future years, sign up for our mailing list here!
